Map bordered with printed advertisement and photographs. Publisher's stiff paper wrappers printed in blue and in orange, lightly creased, red crayon notation at top right of front wrapper; scattered tears to map.

Scarce printed map of the city of Shanghai printed for the Dollar Steamship Line, featuring advertisements from a number of American-owned businesses.

The Dollar Steamship Company was established in 1900 by Captain Robert Dollar, a pioneer of Trans-Pacific shipping. In the 1920s the line grew in size and influence by acquiring the Pacific Mail Line, Admiral Oriental Line and American Mail Line, making it one of the most profitable shipping companies in the world.
